Private Renter Engagement

In these challenging times, having a safe and secure place to live has never been more important. A third of Camden residents (approx. 33,000 people) live in privately rented accommodation but many do not contact the council for advice or support when they may need it.

We want to improve communication so that private renters are more aware of their rights and what the council can do for them.

Private Tenant Survey

We ran a Private Tenant Survey which launched in November 2020 and closed in January 2021. In total, we received 173 responses to the survey.

5 residents, have now been selected from those that entered the free prize draw and have each received a £20 shopping voucher.

Thank you to everyone that took time to complete a survey and also those that volunteered to take part in future research.

What did we learn from the private tenant survey?

Our initial analysis of the survey has shown that many of you have experienced poor housing conditions, bad management and in some cases unfair and threatening behaviour. We want to make sure that you are getting the advice and help you need if you are having these problems now, so please do not hesitate to contact the following council services or local advice partners.

The results of this survey and further contributions will help inform the way we work in the future.

We will shortly provide further key findings from the survey.

Get involved in our Private Renter Forum

We are looking for volunteers to take part in a Private Renter Forum, which will help inform the way in which the Council engages with tenants in the future.

We’ve had a good response from private renters signing up, but it’s not too late to take part.

If you would like to take part or would like any further information, please contact Fiona Exley
